About us
My name is Debbie Boren (Ms. Debbie) and I love teaching Functional Skills at Oak. 2023-2024 school year starts my 25th year at Oak. I have taught the Functional Skills class for 17 years. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis, and received my Master’s degree from Cumberland University. I have been married for 29 years to my best friend and have 3 beautiful children.
We have 3 assistants that work with the children either one on one, in small groups, or when the children go out to inclusion classes. We also have 2 full time nurses for students that need that support. We enjoy work time, circle time, arts/crafts and of course, play time! We will be working on academic skills, social skills, self-help skills, and pre-vocational skills to name a few. You can find a schedule of our MAPs classes on the Welcome page. We have a fenced in playground, so we go outside when the weather is nice.
- Please remember to send a snack and drink for each day. You can always send a week supply and we will keep it in the cabinet if you wish.
- Please remember to send in a change of clothes in a labeled baggie and that are appropriate for the season.
- The notebook will go home each day as our communication system. If you need me you can write me a note in the daily notebook, call the school and leave me a message at 373-2646, or you can e-mail me at [email protected]
