Illness Policies

We have so much learning to do this year!  Your child’s progress, both academically and socially, is greatly influenced by regular school attendance, including promptness.  We are busy with our learning until dismissal each day.    Please avoid early checkouts as much as possible, as this impedes your child’s progress.

School begins at 8 and dismisses at 3.  Students should not arrive prior to 7:45 as adult supervision is not available.   Those arriving after 8:00 must be accompanied by an adult and check in at the office.

If your child will be going home a different way than usual, you MUST send a note to the teacher.

We wash hands, sanitize desks, and clean, clean, clean, but we are little, and we will get sick.  If any of the following signs/symptoms exist, your child must stay home until they have been symptom free for 24 hours without medication.  (This includes children sent home with symptoms of illness.)

fever of 100 degrees or higher

a dry hacking cough OR productive cough

green, yellow, or thick nasal or eye drainage

    diarrhea

    skin rash or eruption

red throat, swollen glands around the jaws, ears or neck

complains of earache, severe stomach ache, sore throat, severe headache

    nausea or vomiting

    chicken pox

When your child is able to return to class, we must have a signed and dated note explaining the absence.  All absences are marked unexcused until a note is received.   If you prefer, you may email Mrs. McGuire [email protected] with your excuse.
